Close-Far Away-Close

continuing plan was to bring doubt, discouragement, diversion, defeat, and delay throughout God's creation. Many have fallen for Satan’s blind offer of the world's goods, which draws us away from God.

It seems that original no flight destination that man once had was separated by a sinful rebellion act. God in his holiness had to punish sin. But yet he stilled loved beyond our understanding.

And how do I know this love relationship would only be a temporary inconvenience? Because even after Cain took the life of his brother Abel, (Genesis 4:8-11), God would see the spiritual pilot light in some men.

25} "And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26} And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD." (Genesis 4:25-26 KJV).

You see my beloved friends; things were beginning to come into focus. Similar to your departure and arrival destinations when traveling. There were two distinct groups emerging: 1) those who showed indifference to sin and evil.

2) Those who worshiped the Lord. They came from the descendants of Seth (Genesis 4:26). Seth would take Abel’s place as leader of a line of God’s faithful people. The life God gives draws us to his loving kindness.

Sin and evil would continue throughout creation. But (Genesis 5:1-32), gave some insight into what would come forward later. The Bible contains several lists of ancestors, called genealogies.

Through this the Hebrew people passed on their beliefs through oral tradition. Stories were told to children, who passed them on to their children. You see, these genealogies were included in the Bible to confirm God’s promise.

What was that promise? Let's read (Genesis 3:15) into our spirit.
"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15 KJV).

This passage foreshadows Satan’s defeat at Christ’s resurrection. A blow to the heel is not deadly, but a blow to the head is. God never relinquished his plan for us. Separation is only away as your next heartbeat.

But that separation could be eternal separation. Where no more flights are leaving out of hell if your destination of unbelief takes you there. But for all the unsaved unbelievers, even in the garden God was revealing his plan.

It was already laid out to defeat Satan and offer salvation to the world through his Son, Jesus Christ. That coming Messiah, Jesus Christ, would be born into the line of Abraham. Genealogies point out that people are important.

God sees you as his sole personal investment. Therefore, God refers to people by name, mentioning their life spans and descendants. God is personal, yet gathers us together. But again, God keeps moving.

Just a quick point to make. Whenever you read the Bible, you continue to see God's great mercy, love, and forgiveness. He puts up with so much, and yet his fullness of love covers his long-suffering towards us.

Some might not think so after reading (Genesis 6:1-7). You might give up if you read only to verse seven. Did God regret creating humanity? Was he saying he made a mistake? No, God does not change his mind (1 Samuel 15:29).

God was expressing sorrow for what the people had done to themselves, as a parent might express sorrow over a rebellious child. God was sorry that the people chose sin and death instead of a relationship with him.

Jesus expressed this same emotion in (John 11:35; Matthew 23:37-39; Deuteronomy 1:42-44; Isaiah 30:15). God would continue to move forward. Yes, he destroyed the earth in the flood and all life with it.

But here again, God sees that pilot light again, seemingly far away. At this timeline, he sees it in the heart of Noah.

8} "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

9} These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God." (Genesis 6:8-9 KJV).
Also, you can read (verses 10-22). So, God continued to move through these generations.

God continues to move throughout his creation like it was only yesterday. After God shows great mercy to Noah and his family, after the great flood, he blesses them as they embark from the ark. (Genesis 9:1-13).

However, those two distinct groups I spoke of earlier, those who showed indifference to sin and evil would show up in one of Noah's sons. Yes, Noah did get drunk, setting a poor example to his sons, but Ham was just as guilty.

You see sin rearing its ugly head again. Ham knew it was wrong to uncover his father’s nakedness (Genesis 9:20-27). Ham’s mocking attitude showed lack of respect for his father and for God. Even godly people can still sin.

The flesh continued to show up throughout the timeline. We know that even godly people can sin and that their bad influence affects their families. How many of you have experienced bad influence in your family?

Although the wicked people had all been killed during the flood, the possibility of evil still existed in the hearts of Noah and his family. Therefore, repentance and being restored by God is crucial throughout his planned timeline.

Before we close on the first series in our timeline, let's move ahead to Abraham. The calling of Abram, renamed “Abraham” by God (Genesis 17:4–6) in the year 2166 BC. This roller-coaster started with creation and ended with flooding.

Once again, the people wanted everything but God. They tried to build a great tower to the heavens. (Genesis 11:1-9). Shem’s family resumes the line of Shem from (Genesis 10:21-32), now with special focus on the line leading to Abram.

Only Abram and Israel are heirs to the God that Shem followed. The Babel story vividly depicts the culture that Abram was called to abandon (Gen 12:1; 24:6-7). God's initial great meeting with Abram took place in Ur and Haran.

Abram is the remnant from Babel’s confused world. God called him as an act of grace whereby the fractured world of Babel would be blessed (Genesis 12:1-3; 17:1-9). Abraham had a choice to make. He had two options.

He could have stayed where he was or setting out with his family and belongings for parts unknown. All he had to go on was God’s promise to guide and bless him. His decision to follow God set everything in motion.

The timeline that God continued to move on was coming into greater focus. This call on Abram was the development of a nation that God would eventually call his own when he visited earth himself. Hallelujah! Praise God!

Therefore, read these beautiful passages of Abram called Abraham.
“And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith.” (Genesis 15:1-7).

🗣📢 Last words:  All of the Old Testament imagery that describes Israel, branches of a vine, a flock led by a shepherd, the elect, the priesthood, the remnant, the true circumcision, and Abraham’s seed is applied to the church.

[The church doesn’t replace Israel, nor is it simply identical to Israel. But a new historical and redemptive development. It brings about the incarnation, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus.]

It has forever transformed and redefined the people of God, so that Peter saw Hosea’s prophecies (Hosea 1:6, 9-11; 2:16-23) as fulfilled in the church. Lord willing, we are going to continue our timeline (flight path, if you will) next week.

We will be looking at Moses and King David before our arrival into the New Testament and Bethlehem. God continues to move. Don't lose your spiritual boarding pass. KEEP LOVING GOD'S WORD!

🛐 Here’s a prayer to stay on board with God. "Heavenly Father, thank you for today's moving word upon my life. I need Jesus more than ever before. Lord, I need you as my eternal pilot, not co-pilot.

Jesus I really don't want a co-pilot because that means someone else is in control. And that only leaves Satan leading me to my wrong destination. Lord Jesus, I need you. I need to hear your voice telling me how to live this life.

I need to remember that you have the controls, and nothing can touch me that you don’t allow. I need to know that you are constantly monitoring everything happening around me, that you have a view I simply can’t understand.

Teach me to rest as I remember that you are the pilot in command as I live this life. Holy Spirit, give me directions and stepping stones made only for my feet to walk on. In your precious name, I pray, Amen."
