[If this were the case, Christians would not be forgiven for their sins or have any hope of eternal life. If what Christians believe were not true, we would be pitiful because we would be suffering for no purpose.]
[So, again, The Greek vocabulary for fulfillment consists of the word (pleroo) "to fill," which reflects the sense of the Hebrew (mala) and (teleo), to complete, bring to an end.]
If you are living a life that seems empty and unfulfilled, be encouraged that God loves you and wants to bring fruition (promise of completion) to your life (Philippians 1:6). All of God promises are yes and Amen! (2 Corinthians 1:20).
What things in your life are you looking to be fulfilled? Jesus told his followers that blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6). Today, everyone is trying to find the key to happiness.
But without Jesus, many are just grasping in darkness. It's like living in the desert seeing utopian mirages everywhere you go. The phrase "misery loves company" has exploded in our nation. Many have lost hope.
The book of Proverbs explains it this way. "Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life." (Proverbs 13:12 KJV). This is described as something being delayed.
[Hope deferred meaning, “long drawn out” or “delayed in fulfillment”) can cause disappointment and depression in body and spirit. If a person’s hope is constantly delayed, he becomes frustrated and loses heart.]
The realization of hope gives encouragement. Just like a tree that gives life. It brings new vitality to the body and the spirit. Today, on a scale of 1-10, how much hope do you have? How much peace do you have?
How much joy do you have? How much trust do you have? The Bible tells us in all our getting and wanting, get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). That is, ask God for wisdom. Ask, seek, and knock continually on the heart of God.
And then, you can listen as Joshua did and sit and hear as Mary (and Martha) did and know you can be fulfilled in all God has blessed you with. Please read both of these passages aloud to your heart (Joshua 1:6-9; Luke 10:41-42).
All the fulfillment you seek today should be soaked in love towards building your personal relationship with the Lord (James 2:8-10; Romans 8:4). Many people today are lost in the worlds failed utopian search.
Again, repeating things are necessary when brokenness keeps holding many captive in Satan’s destructive clutches. All of us are seeking fulfillment in life. But what do you consider fulfilling? Many people search for years trying to find peace and fulfillment.
Many people who have heard the message of the cross, have scoffed at how Jesus can transform their life. Jesus came to help the oppressed, poor, the struggling and those without hope.
Jesus’ words are good news because they offer freedom, fulfillment, spiritual blessings, and eternal life. Why then do people choose the alternative of rejecting salvation? (Hebrews 2:1-4).
Even so, God continues to knock on our hearts. 14} "Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15} And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:14-15 KJV).
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20 KJV). The Pharisees and Sadducees rejected that knocking.
In 2024, people are still rejecting that knocking to their own destruction. The religious leaders in Jesus' day were characterized as whitewashed tombs. They looked the part outwardly, but inside were full of dead man's bones.
They had no life inside that would bring fulfillment. Do you believe our country has many religions that look like the religious leaders in Jesus’ day? As our nation continues in its moral decline, the hope from younger generations looks hopeless to them.
More and more young people feel they have no other options but to end the misery through suicide. But that is never the answer. Suicide only quickens the judgement process. God has placed life inside us that fights to survive.
Jesus came to give us life, and life more abundantly. The answer is not more of the world, but more of Jesus. Society has become fixated on things they think will make them happy and contented.
Every day you see it in the lives of celebrities who wreck their lives and relationships in pursuit of success. Or business executives who, despite their wealth, are consumed with greed. What about ordinary people like us?
Some of us suffer from small compulsions. Like feeding an addiction to shopping, because it yields a burst of positive feelings. About 20 Years ago I was hooked on shopping at Best Buy. I thought electronics were so cool.
I would purchase new gadgets as soon as they came to market. But it soon became dull and unfulfilled to me. The Lord took my heart to other areas of what his will and purpose was for my life.
Many people are fixated on finding the right man or woman. They bounce from one relationship to the other, looking for love in all the wrong places. Many women will stay abusive relationships thinking this is all there is.
But God is always standing by to listen to your cry of pain. He sees your tears. He is just waiting for you to call out to him and invite him into your life. You can achieve the fulfillment you are searching for.
🗣📢 Last words: Here are just a few warning signs to know when fulfillment can be drifting away from you.
A) Craving for physical pleasure. Being preoccupied with gratifying physical desires. Paul told believers to not allow sin to reign in their mortal bodies. (Romans 6:11-14).
B) Craving for everything we see. The Bible tells us hell and destruction are never full, so the eyes of a man are never satisfied (Proverbs 27:20). I always tell people, "It's ok to have some stuff, just don't allow the stuff to have you." Don't bow to the god of materialism.
C) Pride in our achievements and possessions. This kind of pride is different than thankful accomplishments that God has blessed us with. It hurts us when this obsession becomes about me, myself, and I.
When the serpent tempted Eve, he tempted her in these areas. When the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, these were also his three areas of attack (Matthew 4:1-11). Pride always proceeds the fall. (Proverbs 16:18).
Fulfillment is in reach when you allow God to be Lord of your life. Submit your thoughts to his control. Doing so will cause you to survive all the spiritual warfare you face. Are you ready for a fulfilled life?
🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to gain fulfillment. "Heavenly Father, thank you for showing me the very things that were stealing my joy and holding me in bondage. I know now that your love can break all depression in my life.
Lord, please help me to find fulfillment in your presence. Help me to live in such a way that my actions serve as a reflection of your own grace and mercy. Teach me to seek first your Kingdom, in a life that brings glory to your name.
Jesus, your word tells me that you are my shepherd, and I shall not want (lack). Thank you, that despite my circumstances, your truth anchors me to you. You are my sure and steady cornerstone.
Lord, I have kept my eyes on what the world is offering instead of what you have already done for me. This forces me to keep my eyes on my circumstances. Please guide and direct me where you want me to be.
Help my ears to be attentive to what you have to say, and help me to be quick to obey. Please help me to be more like you. Lord, I desire a fulfilled life of oneness with you. Holy Spirit, fill my life. In Jesus name, Amen."
