THE I's HAVE IT

THE EYES 2_edited.jpg

God is still in complete total control. Please read some of these passages to be encouraged.

16} "For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17} For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18} While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 KJV).

You can have the same eyesight as the young man born blind. Did you know blind people can have better eyesight than people who can see? Did you know born-again blind people can walk in spiritual discernment?

I remember when I first got saved starting my new life in Christ. The spirit filled church I attended had a blind member that I became friends with. After getting to know him, I was amazed at the joy and belief he had in Jesus.

I never saw him dejected or down about not being able to see. He always had this glow on his face. He loved to worship God. He would stand, clap, and praise God without limitations. It was as though he could see everything without seeing.

One day I asked him about how he became blind. He said he was born blind. I started to feel saddened by his answer. He must have known because he placed his hand on my shoulder and said it's going to be glorious for him.

I think I remember asking him how he had so much joy about it. He said because others have gotten to see so many people throughout their lives, some with disappointment over what their eyes have seen.

But smiled and said to me, the first person I get to see when I open my eyes on the other side of death is Jesus. He then began to praise God and thank him. Now that is seeing with eyes of faith. This young man had big faith.

Jesus at times would say to his disciples during troubled times, "Oh ye of little faith." (Matthew 8:26). It obviously weighed on their hearts because during their time with Jesus, they asked him to increase their faith. (Luke 17:5-6).

[Genuine faith is powerful even in small quantities. The mustard seed was thought by farmers in Palestine to be the smallest of seeds. A mulberry tree has such an extensive and deep roots that it might live for hundreds of years.

The more you keep your eyes on Jesus and trust him fully in obedience, your faith will continue to increase. Everyone has a life story to tell. You can see many of the storms of life beating on you. Alot of you today feel God can't or won't work on your behalf.

Nothing could be further from the truth. You may hear the words "How much more" when you pick up a Bible and read it. These words apply to God’s longsuffering constant care and love for us. (Matthew 7:8-11).

When we truly understand who God is, we will realize that he controls both the storms of nature and the storms of  troubled hearts. So again, how are seeing through eyes of faith? You must be secure in how it is defined.

Please read these verses aloud into your spirit, family, or study group.
1} "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2} For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3} Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." (Hebrews 11:1-3 KJV).

8} "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9} Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).

1} "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2} By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." (Romans 5:1-2 KJV).

🗣📢 Last words: The Bible is covered with ordinary people who had faith in God without having to visually see everything. They stood firm on faith because they trusted his words. The word of God is completely trustworthy.

During Jesus' ministry, the people were drawn to him because he spoke with authority and acted with divine love. (Matthew 7:28-29). Your eyes of faith increases when that divine truth sets you free.

Our faith rests in the God who created the entire universe by his word. As we approach the Christmas season, many of you have already purchased gifts for loved ones, and friends. These gifts have been purchased by you.

When others receive your gifts, they never have to purchase them from you. They don't have to work for you to earn that gift. "Freely you have received, freely give." Many people feel the need to work for the gift of Salvation.

The religious people try desperately to earn God's approval by earning these unattainable brownie points. How can you earn something that is given freely? All we can do is thank the Lord with gratitude, praise, joy, and worship.

Faith Leads us to seeing God's glory manifested in our lives. Jesus is our great intercessor. Just as he prayed for Peter’s faith to not fail, he intercedes on our behalf also. His love is for us is deeper than any love on earth.

Please read these following verses when you feel weak in faith and your eyes seem to stop seeking him. (John 11:40; Mark 10:51-52; Hebrews 11:6; John 20:28-29; 1 Pet 1:3-7; Acts 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 16:12-13).

The word "Full" in (Acts 6:5) concerning Stephen is a wonderful example of God’s continuing outpouring of gifts he lavishly gives to us. The Greek for full (plērēs) is to be replete or covered over. To be complete, filled up, not empty.

Just as you might fill up your vehicle until the gas pump stops automatically, Stephen was filled up with so much faith and the Holy Spirit that the word of God increased and the number of disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly.

You see how it works? You draw to God and he draws to you and uses you to be his light in the world. I love the story of the prophet Elisha’s faith in trusting God when the enemy had surrounded the city with horses and chariots.

When his servant saw all the enemy forces, he feared and said to Elisha, "What shall we do!" But Elisha had eyes full of faith just like Stephen. His response was amazing.

"And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them." (2 Kings 6:16 KJV). His servant thought they were completely outnumbered. But Elisha didn't stop there. He prayed.

"And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha." (2 Kings 6:17 KJV).

Do you see now beloved? Faith has action instilled in it. Elisha knew God's army of angels were all around him. His servants’ eyes were empty of faith due to fear. You can have no faith, little faith, or even the gift of faith.

Jesus delt with a man that was blind and the people wanted him to touch him. I wonder if they had faith that Jesus would actually open his eyes. Because Jesus took the blind man and led him out if town.

Jesus used his own saliva on the man's eyes. After torching his eyes, he asked him what he saw. The man could see but he saw people as trees. His vision wasn't complete until Jesus touched his eyes again and made him look up.

His sight was then totally restored. Ironically, Jesus didn't send him back to town but told him to go to his house. He told him not to tell anyone in the town what happened.

[The blind man in this quiet little village of Bethsaida is a perfect picture of the disciples’ understanding of Jesus. They saw him, but not clearly yet. It’s the same with our own spiritual experience.]

[While we were lost, we were spiritually blind. But then along came Jesus one day, and He took away our blindness. Though at first, we didn’t see everything fully and clearly, our spiritual vision became more focused.]

You have to choose faith over physical perception. True spiritual sight comes through belief in God's promises and trusting him wholeheartedly. (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Remember when Jesus prayed for Peter’s faith to be strengthened? (Luke 22:32). With any gift we receive from God, it is our responsibility to exercise the gift and not become complacent, lazy, or apathetic.

The Israelites of Elisha's day and Moses' day illustrate a problem facing many who fill our churches today. They know a great deal about Christianity and Christ, but they do not know Christ personally.

They haven’t combined their knowledge with faith. Let the Good News of Christ touch your life. Believe in him and then act on what you know. Trust in him and do what he says.

The ultimate goal of the believer is to see Jesus and to consummate fellowship with him. When he speaks, do you listen and respond? How can you better prepare yourself to respond to his voice?

[What is visible now is transient, fleeting, short-lived. But what is unseen is eternal and will never fade. We have a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Set the vision with God's will, and find direction in faith.]

[“My child, how long are you going to live with half sight?” or “How long will you walk about like those who are still blind and insensitive, still focusing on what is tangible and visible while missing what is invisible, intangible, and eternal?”]

"Lord open my eyes!"

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to see the Lord by faith. "Heavenly Father, I thank you for showing me that I can trust you and not worry about things that are out of my control. Jesus, I need your peace today.

Please fill my heart with the peace that the world doesn't have. Lord, help me to live in your strength as I learn to walk by faith, and not by sight. Holy Spirit teach me to be still before the Lord, knowing by faith you will help me.

Father, please give me the words to pray and the endurance to trust in you even in unknown or challenging circumstances? Help me to know when to move and when to wait. Jesus give me eyes of faith that start in my heart.

Lord, even when those doubts start to build in my mind, help me to know that I don't have to be conformed to the world's way of thinking. I reject the spirit of unbelief. Help my head knowledge to become heart knowledge from your word.

May my actions reflect those truths and not the lies the enemy throws at me. Forgive Lord for those times when I relied on my feelings more than what God’s word says to me. Lord, take my mustard seed faith and make it grow.

Father, help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and away from distractions and worldly challenges. I pray for boldness and directions in unclear situations. You alone are the author and finisher of my faith, in Jesus' name Amen."
